Abstract:

We have synthesized Egg White protein protected gold quantum clusters (AuQC@eggwhite). Egg White protein was used as both reducing and capping agent. Synthesized AuQC@eggwhite was characterized by UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT IR) and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Spectrometry (MALDI MS). Luminescent properties of these clusters have revealed that Vis-NIR emitting Au25 clusters were formed. Electrochemiluminescence properties of AuQC@eggwhite immobilized on conducting Indium-Tin Oxide plate were investigated. Immobilization of clusters on ITO was confirmed by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence Spectroscopy and Cyclic Voltametry. Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) properties were investigated using a setup by connecting photoluminescence spectrometer and cyclic voltameter together. We were able to observe ECL signal at positive potential of 0.7 V and 1.2 V.
